Overview

The supply chain for a large automotive retailer needed an official training workbook for all of their new hires—specifically GMs, Supervisors, and hourly workers. Training has been implemented in a very basic form for the longest time, making it easy for new hires to miss out on critical components and expectations to perform their tasks proficiently. With the lack of official training, turnover was rather high. The subject matter experts came to me with their current layout they use when training and wanted me to create a elegant, simple structured workbook outlining their 52 week training and add that first impression on their first day of this is a company that cares! Putting my trainer / instructional designer hat on, I shortened the original training guideline from 50+ pages to 25 with added note-taking pages. Overall feedback from the field was that it was aesthetically pleasing, short, and easy to follow, and it shows a sense of pride in the quality of training we deliver to all employees hired.
